Marriage Vs Love Marriage
This is one of the contemporary and most pondered topic that the present generation have in there discussion. What exactly is marriage? As far as I can see in the practical scenario and very much in bound to India, I feel that it’s a obligation to know the second person for you have been destined so. Also, the way it goes in India, it’s more or less painful as in the case when grooms are on the receiving side, and brides are on the giving away side. I don’t know much about the real dowry transaction that follows up, but many learned people from the groom’s side site out that the charge huge dowry and that too proudly as they had spent the same amount upon bringing him up. Now this is really ridiculous, and the ridicule can be ridiculed in various ways. Firstly, if you are spending so much for your kids, are you expecting a return from them? Or, is it one of those kinds of insurance schemes where on maturity here in this case on marriage you reap profit on investment. Who says that Indians are not business people? Now from the bride side, they are always on the giving side. “Kanyadan”, giving away the daughter ceremony, where the father is supposed to hand over her daughter to her future fate master. Now how cruel can this be, as in it reminds me of fairy tale Hansel and Gretel, the one in which the father leaves his kids in forest so that they can have less stomachs to feed. Thou, the reason here is not hunger, it is one of the most complicated web that man have framed around him, which he proudly calls as society. The tear shedding seems to be authentic in this situation, for they are giving away their daughter and also big bucks. On one end it’s a nightmare for one family i.e. the bride’s family and the other side its festive season on the grooms side. There are cases where the groom side family handover the requirement of dowry first, before anything thing. Man is supposed to be a social animal, but at places he simply omits the social part. They just stop caring about people around you, as in they stop respecting all the hardship and all the cost cutting the other family has done to heap up for dowry. This can be attributed as an inhuman behavior of highest degree. Can’t these people ever recognize the fact that they are giving away there daughter to them. The holiness of the nuptial knot is lost here itself. And this is even sicker when we witness these kinds of engagements in a learned society. These people have a big mouth when they have to talk of equality between boys and girls, but suddenly this modern outlook fades out when it comes to marriage. What I feel is that these people educate their daughter and make out of them good engineers and doctors just for the fact that they get a good groom. I guess they would have never imagined there daughters to work or stand on their feet even in their dreams. How badly is our country losing the feminine power from the nation building?
Now let me not talk business and get to the more humane side of the discussion, society. Well all know that marriage is a big event in a society. Now, we all would agree that in India the marriage is based on click basis. Here the click is used as a double meaning word. The first one being that the click happens from the either side, but more important that that is the actual click, I mean the photo that is presented to the groom or the bride. Since the bride are at the receiving end they don’t have a much say to the click except for the fact that they ensure that the click that is circulated to the grooms side is the best available. If in USA marriage is a dating game, in India I would call it as window shopping more over body shopping. 99% of the groom community wants there bride to be out of the world beautiful, and what more than a click would be required to ascertain that. So, now the bride side has an additional cost to bear, the cost to look out of the world. The formal dialogues pre-engagement are some hardly countable hours, in which you have to infer from the hypothetical presentation from each side. I mean when you are just showing up the greener side of the leaf then how are we supposed to know if there is a moth’s cocoon at its back.
